Elevating Black Leaders in Maternal Health: Powerful Stories on Film

In honor of Black Maternal Health Week, Spero Studio partnered with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to bring national attention to two short documentaries produced by Emmy®-nominated People’s Television. The films spotlighted Black maternal health leaders Chanel Porchia-Albert of Ancient Song Doula Services and Jennie Joseph of Commonsense Childbirth, both working tirelessly to address maternal health disparities. Spero Studio led a comprehensive campaign, securing coverage in top media outlets and engaging influential advocates to amplify these critical stories across social media.

The campaign was a resounding success, totaling 263+ hours of video engagement and generating 144,076 film views. Through this strategic outreach, Spero Studio helped RWJF highlight the urgent need for systemic reform in maternal healthcare, strengthening their impact as a leader in health equity advocacy.
